Was is based on interviewee self-description or was it based on an actual scientific definition of class labeling? I also feel that there was neglect of other races by undermining their inclusion in the middle/ working class especially in a diverse place like Queens New York. Even though the method that she use by interviewing people and creating a verbal/ non-verbal socialization, there are a limitation for this methods, for instance, the subjectivity of parents’ answers. In fact, observation method could have been used in more situations involving kids and parents life in order to have more accurate representation. The role of the father and/or the other parent was surprisingly ignored which was a research gap for me. Family generational background, parents’ education specification and a bigger sample of the research were somethings that I wished to find in this paper in order to better understanding the role of the parents in their child raising.
