Social anxiety disorder a type of anxiety disorder that creates a sense of fear during social situations for the person that is diagnosed with the disorder. Different from or types of anxiety and social disorders social anxiety disorder (SAD) also known as social phobia can occur in many different types of situations even in those with common surrounding and people. SAD is also known to create a level of fear so intense that it can lead to destabilizing panic attacks which can be disrubted to everyday life. “These situations may be so frightening that you get anxious just thinking about them or go to great lengths to avoid them, disrupting your life in the process”. While the disorder may not be discussed openly because of the majority of America’s reluctance to address social disorders and brain health SAD effects many Americans every day. “Social anxiety disorder (social phobia) is the third largest psychological problem in the United States today. Millions of people quietly endure this pain every day, believing there is no hope for them getting better”. (Richards)
Often social anxiety disorder stems from the fear of being embarrassed or judged by someone else in a public setting.
