Annotated Biblography: Children with Anxiety
Barrett, Paula, Brian Fisak, and Marita Cooper. "The Treatment Of Anxiety In Young Children: Results Of An Open Trial Of The Fun FRIENDS Program." Behaviour Change 32.4 (2015): 231-242. Academic Search Complete. Web. 22 Nov. 2015. This article summarizes the results of a trial of the Fun FRIENDS Program. The program takes thirty-one children diagnosed with anxiety and are treated in group sessions and parents are encourged too go too two of these sessions. These sessions usually involve play-based activties for an hour and a half, the results shown were decreases in anxiety and shyness. Though research about children with anxiety disorders and emotional functioning is limited, some research shown youth with anxiety disorders were stated to display more maladaptive behaviors. In conclusion, this study helped to have a better understanding of emotional and social functioning of chidlren with anxiety. This article will help me in research by better understanding children and how their anxiety affects their social and emotional functions and how it affects them in life.

The method used in this program was to screen young children in preschool with any symptoms of anxiety and giving a intervention to the parents to help their children. In conclusion this procces was deem good in cost effectivnes, but was stated that it should be looked at more before a wide- scale adoption of the method should be used. This relates to my thesis because cost can be another reason to why children with anxiety don't get treated and if it is cost effective then it should be affordable for parents which might convince them to their children

    It consisted of recognizing anxious thoughts, modifying the cognitions, role-playing adaptive behaviours, and exposure to the anxiety-inducing situations within the clinic. Chi-square tests and ANOVA tests used to analyze pretreatment data showed no difference in participants. A repeated measure multivariate analysis of variance revealed significant improvement in symptoms in the post-test.
