First, my experience with living in India has often pushed me to see everything to a deeper level. For example, in America, a person is considered poor if he/she doesn't have a job or a place to stay. But he/she might still have enough clothing to survive, such as a pair of pants and shoes. In India however, a person is stamped poor only after he/she starts to go house by house, begging for money. Furthermore, shoes and pair of pants are considered to be a luxury. In fact, I did not have a pair of shoes until a few weeks before I had to leave for America.
