The two stories I am comparing are very different in what they mean and try to make the reader understand. In “The Scarlet Ibis,” by James Hurst it's more about love and pride while in “The Cask of Amontillado,” by Edgar Allan Poe it's about power and revenge. Both stories are about conflicts between a character with another character.
In contrast, in The Scarlet Ibis, the brother has high hopes to save (help) Doodle but gets frustrated while doing it on the other hand, Montresor feels no remorse tricking and hurting Fortunato. Brother pushes Doodle to see how really weak he is or to show how strong he really can be. At the end of the story big brother and Doodle get caught up in a storm and brother ends up leaving and running away from Doodle
