Beowulf is a poem that shows strength and honor through a character who progresses through the storyline from a mighty warrior to a great and stoic king. Beowulf went through many hardships and trials through his life and that 's what makes this poem an excellent illustration to show loyalty because that is what is embodied in Beowulf 's guiding virtue. As he went to the Scyldings to assist them, the whole time he was receiving honor, glory, and treasures for his king back in Geatland. Even as King Hrothgar pleaded Beowulf not just to come back and visit but to stay with the Danes, Beowulf could not because his loyalties lied in his uncle 's kingdom. There are a lot of examples of Germanic heroic code in Beowulf such as loyalty, strength, and generosity. Beowulf 's attitude towards crisis remains very stoic and honorable through his transformation from a noble warrior to a powerful king. Beowulf also parallels to Jesus Christ as he is always doing what 's best for his people and he also follows the Pagan belief of good against evil. Beowulf 's persona shows no vacancies even in near death and as his people burned and buried him. He obviously truly was loved as a warrior and a king.

Beowulf had grown from when he was a young warrior to the he was an aged king. Beowulf was a brilliant warrior who showed strength, determination, and courage in his youth.
