Significance Of The Green Light In The Great Gatsby

In the movie titled The Great Gatsby, the main character Jay Gatsby is deeply in love with a young beautiful woman who comes from a completely different world . As they met and fell in love, he quickly realized that in order to be with her, he must become ridiculously successful and win her over with his status and money. He chased the American Dream with only one goal in mind, to win over Daisy Buchanan. However, as the story progressed forward, he quickly realized that the green light on the end of Daisy’s dock that motivated him to pursue the American Dream was not as bright and enticing once he actually had Daisy in his arms. It is arguable what the green light meant to Gatsby before he had Daisy. The green light was first introduced when Nick saw Gatsby standing on his dock reaching towards the darkness. The green light has a lots of different meanings in the movie. The green light was a symbol of Gatsby's desire for Daisy, but that is not everything the green light meant, Daisy was just the most significant part of it.. When Gatsby told Daisy about all the long nights gazing at the light and wondering about their future happiness, it makes one wonder if Daisy can live up to Gatsby’s expectations. During the secret affair between Gatsby and Daisy, the light was always faded which meant it was not as valuable to Gatsby anymore. The blinking light was also a symbol of the unstable relationship between Tom and Daisy. Daisy knew that Tom was having an affair with another woman. During the movie when Gatsby was at Daisy's house for lunch he told Tom that he can see the green light at the end of their dock and Tom was confused as to what green light Gatsby was talking about so it made me wonder if the light was just a creation of Gatsby’s
