Taylor Swift Shake It Off Analysis

Improved Essays
If my life was a television show or a movie, the theme song I would chose would be “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift. I chose this song because I feel like it best describes my attitude towards life and situations. The first impression I would want the audience to make about me would be that I have a happy spirit and I try to always stay positive and not let things bother me. I want people to see that although bad things can happen, it’s your attitude that gets you through and makes it better. I always say, the better the attitude, the better the situation. I chose “Shake It Off’ because it is an upbeat song and I think people would view me as being upbeat and bubbly through everything. I believe that if you have a bubbly personality, it makes going through situations easier. For me, my social status is to be a great student and athlete. While being these things, it was important for me to not get upset over …show more content…
The song has several different situations in it and it’s based on the situations that Taylor Swift has been through but they are very popular in today’s society. The lyrics, “And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate (haters gonna hate), I 'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, I shake it off, I shake it off,” show the different situations that like myself, Taylor Swift has also been through. I want to keep this attitude when I get upset over a situations because not everyone is going to like you or agree with you but that shouldn’t matter because you need to do whatever it is that you want to do. I think that the song says a lot about who I am as a person. The song shows that even though situations and people can bring you down, it shows a lot about your character that you will not sink down to their level, but you will rise above them and not let it upset you. This song represents being strong. Even when people try to hurt you, you just need to be strong and get through

Listening to the selections I found they all generally appeal to me though others have more of an immediate preference than others. A genuine love for music creates an appreciation for all genres. One can respect or acknowledge the environment from which it was produced, its purpose, and the skill of the musician(s). I particularly became fond of The Andrew Sisters after experiencing the song “The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”. I recall hearing it from a television commercial vaguely, but it was a completely new thing to see and hear them perform it.…

I would like to entertain you with a very symbolic song (to me at least). This song may not be the most elegant or the most well known. Being written by an old punk rock band, they aren't exactly known for being a tear dropper. No, this song is a fist raiser. Social Distortion's "I Wasn't Born To Follow" is the song strong enough to push a generation to change the world.…

The song “Lean On Me” by Bill Withers really reminds me of the last week of 8th grade. It was the song we sang in choir for the promotion. This song brings back the good vibes and memories my friends and I have had that year. One of the lines in the song that stuck out the most was “I'll be your friend I'll help you carry on” this really shows how much I will be there for my friends no matter what the circumstances are, I mean unless they screw me over.…

The song I chose is “Surfin’ U.S.A.”, is characterized by the Beach Boys. I chose this song because of how laid back the tune sounds and makes me want to relax. It’s relaxing because the song reminds me of the beach and the sounds of the waves. In the song it talks about how they will be gone for the summer and to tell the teacher they have gone surfing.
