Listening to the selections I found they all generally appeal to me though others have more of an immediate preference than others. A genuine love for music creates an appreciation for all genres. One can respect or acknowledge the environment from which it was produced, its purpose, and the skill of the musician(s). I particularly became fond of The Andrew Sisters after experiencing the song “The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”. I recall hearing it from a television commercial vaguely, but it was a completely new thing to see and hear them perform it. This also stands for Connie Smith’s “Once a Day”. I am not in the slightest a contemporary country fan, but Connie Smith’s voice accompanied by the steel guitar was very alluring.
Noting the clothing featured throughout the various pieces of music I can say that it only seems fitting. In most of the early selections provided, mostly war tunes, I expected the stiffed pressed uniforms down to the dingy garments in the frames capturing the midst of the war, be it civil, World War 1, or World War 2. I will offer one of my favorites songs of all time, that I remember singing and dancing to at a very early age behind the television screen. Michael Jackson’s “Remember the Time”, for many reasons has always been a go to song for me. The video itself with the special effects, all-star cast, and most importantly the dancing is just a musical treat for me. I have a great love for Michael Jackson’s music because the spectrum of emotion in his lyricism and the rawness in his voice. I can not go a day without the percussion of sound and making melodies in my head so I leave it at that, Michael Jackson’s “Remember the Time” as being a song that accurately defines me.
