In Cnada conjigal visits are allowed for nonviolent offenders and the argument is that sexual violence would be reduced in the United States if they adopted a similar practice . It does not take much to realize that this argument falls apart when you consider the actual crimes being commited , most if not all of the time sexual violence is about power more than it is about the sex itself , and people who are incarserated already have very little power over their lives and so the addition of conjgal visit programs in the United States would probably have very little effect in terms of stopping sexual violence . I am also personally of the opinion that providing conjgual visits in the United States in womens prisons would do perhaps even less to deture
the instances of sexual violence because there are more instances where it it a male or female corrections officer who is the prepetrator of the violence and they are free to do what they may in their homes and yet there are some who still take advantage of prisoners who are in a controled environment
