Unfortunately, the girls do not plan to continue this work once they graduate. They will continue with the promotion; however, they wish for others to use this platform as an inspiration and to create their own work and tell their own stories.
Analysis:
“Sad Asian Girls” did an amazing job in spreading the word about some of the stereotypes that Asian American’s are experiencing in their daily lives. Many of the stereotypes are like those discussed in class such as the model minority myth and that Asian American women are too quiet and weak. Both the article and the girls tried to break these stereotypes that have surrounded Asian Americans. This was accomplished by educating those about them and by spreading awareness of their actions.
In addition, the video, “Have you eaten” is very similar to one of the discussions at an extra credit meeting I was fortunate enough to attend. At the meeting, a discussion occurred about the love that college-aged Asian American students have received from their family. Many of the members shared similar experiences as shown in the video. I remember many of the students recalling moments in which their mother said they look too shiny that they should eat, but also saying that they should not eat too
