When on the college campus, I noticed that a majority of both men and women were wearing risqué costumes. I define risqué as presenting oneself in a sexual way that would not be typical of a person of that status on an average day. The host of the show, who identified themself as a ‘Drag Queen’, wore dramatic makeup, padded body modifications, and lingerie. The crowd reacted to this presentation in a positive way; it captured their attention and acted as a model of liberation of social norms. I observed no male audience members with like body modifications or makeup, but some wore similar lingerie. Those who choose to do so often wore an outfit that was similar to the character of Dr. Frank’n’furter, a character in RHPS that identifies as a transvestite and has a major role in a file. Men that chose to dress up but in a less proactive manner chose to dress as the character from RHPS named Brad Majors, who plays the love interest of both his fiancé Janet Weise and Dr. Frank’n’furter and wears more traditional
