Reverse Discrimination : Racial Discrimination Essay

Reverse discrimination is a phenomenon in which discrimination occurs against a dominant or majority of the race, which some people think does not exist because in order to be racist, you have to acquire a privilege. Racism involves the idea that one’s race is superior and has the right to dominate others. Many people, the minority of the population, think that white people have white privilege, where they can abscond with doing such things because of their white color while people of color would have a harder time if put in a terrible situation. For example, the media portraits white suspects as innocent but any people of color would be labeled as terrorists. The problem with reverse racism also brings up the topic of slavery. The reality of reverse racism existing is not real because in the seventeenth century, people of color, black African Americans, were brought over to work and were kept as property and were forced to work for white people, they were very under privileged and treated very poorly. Black people were put through hard situations and to take away that from them and say reverse racism exists because a person of color used a slur against a white person would not make any sense at all. For example, imagine being put through torture and having to work all your life without getting paid, but get the value of that decrease because someone else had a “racial slur” said to them.
