A Step to Develop as Great Leader Most people worked for leaders at some point of their life. These leaders continuously rated high or low by their employees or colleagues. Some leaders rise above than others while other leaders are challenging to work with or for. What makes a leader good or bad? Where am I standing as a leader? I completed four assessments to address two important components of good leadership, a self-awareness and self-care. Leadership styles assessment, DISC personality testing, and Jung typology test are aimed to increase self-awareness and vitality score indicate an area that needs improvement in term of self-care. My assessment result indicated that my leadership style is participative, also known as democratic leadership. Participative leader considers the group members and experts inputs before making decisions, which makes participative leaders the most effective and accurate in decisions making (About.Com, Psychology, n.d.). This leadership style allows other to develop as leader, reduce stress, and increase motivation and creativity (Giltinane, 2013). The top three lifestyle improvement recommendations for me are to have a little faith, pay attention to your emotions, and cut the junk (Blue Zones and University of Minnesota School of Public Health, n.d.). Furthermore, the result indicated that I can gain 12.1 years by optimizing my lifestyle, to have a little faith being the highest in increase life expectancy.
