According to the Leadership Assessment, my Leadership Style is Participative. I am a Democratic leader with an aptitude for Consulting. The mediums to those of us who fall under this Leadership Style are selling, reasoning, persuading, and consulting. We tend to build plans through participation and then I, the Leader, make the final decision. I feel it is important to have your subordinates communicate and contribute in planning, it puts everybody’s current situation on the table and allows you to schedule accordingly. Leaders need to stay humble in my opinion, because it is not possible for you to know everything. They must remain flexible and have a good sense of individual responsibility. For example, it tells me that my mediums are selling, reasoning, persuading, and consulting. I feel I have always been a good salesman. I used to sell timeshares in Florida before I joined the military and made good money doing so! However, it became to mentally taxing and I would come home completely exhausted by the end of the day. I feel like this is due to my effective communication and my ability to recognize opportunity.
Leaders that fall under the Participative Leadership Style are usually employed in places that involve work pertaining to selling, persuading, and consulting. For example, a person who is the manager of car dealership, and he manages all of the salesman would excel using this leadership style. Even on the other side of the spectrum, a social activist would also excel due to the persuasive nature of this Leadership Style. Maybe even a general contractor, who consults with business owners and deals with a lot of employees can benefit from using a Participative
