An Anti-hero can be described as a "protagonist who is lacking the traditional heroic attitudes and qualities, and instead possesses character traits that are antithetical to heroism." The antihero is not your typical hero because he doesn't always possess purely good qualities or intentions. For example, while a hero is courageous and will face his battle head on, an anti hero might try to get around conflict by a sneaky strategy. A hero is usually perfectly built, an antihero might be too short, too hairy, or unproportioned. While a hero is self-assured, an anti hero might be tormented with insecurities and self doubt. A hero has pure intentions and serves the common good,but an antihero might be selfish and rebellious against this same common good.The antihero is not an Absolute of Good or Bad, they possess a little bit of both …show more content…
For these reasons, antiheroes have a tendency to be more intriguing and complex characters. They appeal to the reader because we can relate and connect with them on a more humanistic level. The fact that this character is unlike the traditional hero makes him or her more Contributive to the Action and Excitement of the story. An anti-hero is used to bring the "spice" and "flavor" to a script that an ordinary hero-villain story does not usually bring . The more sinister approach to the idea of using anti-hero shows that it has much more potential for entertainment as compared to the conventional style. It can also be used to represent many things that we see in real life such as, social flaws, human frailties and political culture. Often In modern society when witnessing a character that is overly righteous and upright, we find it rather unrealistic. The anti hero Strikes a balance between Good and Evil, making it so we relate better to the character that has suffered through life and has both good and bad sides rather than a character that is only seen doing
