For some individuals, their faith grows and for other individuals, areas of faith experience are damaged. In order to positively impact the client, the therapist needs to find out how they can help clients preserve faith and draw upon it as a resource during their sessions. One of the few measurements of religion and spirituality is the Faith Situations Questionnaire (Walker, 2012). This questionnaire assesses clinical impairment in religious setting that have a relation with children’s problems, including hyperactive behavior and inattention. In a group of forty-eight individuals in a psychosocial rehabilitation program, twenty took part in an optional spirituality group and 28 individuals did not (Wong-Mcdonald, 2007). Within six months of the program, all of the patients in the spirituality group achieved their goals, whereas only sixteen out of the twenty-eight individuals (57%) completed their goals (Wong-Mcdonald, 2007). These results may be attributed to the ability for individuals to have access to more spiritual coping mechanisms if they find themselves more devout in a spiritual manner. These coping mechanisms may include prayer, meditation, or spiritual support. Individuals may also be more inclined to avoid harmful or unhealthy behaviors, such as gluttony or lust, and find themselves engaging in healthier ones, such as forgiveness, perseverance, and hope.
