This man goes out of his way to tell the reader that he not only does he know “Nature’s People” but that they know him as well. It appears as though the speaker is talking about animals and creatures, specifically the snake. Yet again the speaker personifies not only the snake, but all animals with human traits by saying that they know him as well. When we talk about psychological criticism it seems as though this man may be a little crazy. The man is giving the animals a type of anthropomorphism, which is dreadfully out of the norm. Next, the man says “I feel for them a transport/Of Cordiality” (lines 19-20). So in other words this man feels a great sense of pleasure when he cares for the animals with his own hospitality.
