The whole point of the new deal was to help people. Documents were used as evidence of both pros and cons of the new deal. In my opinion though the new deal was not a success because it was discriminating, it didn’t help unemployment, and it was a waste with some programs. One reason the new deal was not a success was because it was discriminating towards African Americans. “AAA’s policies forced more than 100,000 blacks off the land in 1933 and 1934” ( ). These programs were a pick and choose. In a time of need there should be no picking and choosing. These programs should have been for everyone. “FHA refused to guarantee mortgages for blacks who tried to buy in white neighborhoods..” Again racism and discrimination is shown. One act that did this was the Civilian conservation act. This helped unmarried men in the war. It gave them extra support they didn’t need. We get it, the men serving our country need extra help. What about the people at home while they go out and fight wars. The whole point of fighting is so that people back home can live a happy life but instead if they give all their money to the unmarried men the the war, there will be no America when they come back. What about women who needed the extra help. The government yet again left people out of acts. Instead of just using it on men in the war they could have help the unmarried women without a job. It did help some people who needed the money the most though. One act in the program called the Social Security Act helped those who have disorders or got in a accident with their help. It gave them money they needed. Kind of like insurance in a way. This was good because it helped though who needed the money for medical reasons. Even though that sounds great there could have been many other ways the government could have saved money and helped more
