In one of many vietnam protest acts, during a time of much civil turmoil in the US, a young white boy was seen holding a sign saying that people "are not born to burn" (no author 1). This sign alludes to how children are not born hating another race. A lack of hate implies some amount of natural trust inherent to human beings. Children are not born hateful, they are also not born mistrusting. As long as we trust one another, we will be able to overcome civil liberty issues. In the photograph, “MLK Protesting U.S. Involvement in Vietnam.”, there are many different ages, races, and sexes seen together all working toward a common goal (no author 1). The symbolism of this photograph demonstrates an ideal of everyone, regardless of race, gender, and age all working toward a common goal and trusting each other. Only through trust were these people able to organize this protest as a peaceful, civil act. If everyone trusts each other, it will be easier to accept each other, and if everyone accepts each other, there will be no prejudice nor civil liberty issues.
