Affects of pollution in children’s lungs “We are living on this planet as if we had another one to go to” Terri Swearing. Earth is the only planet where life exists, therefore, we should take care of what we have. We are destroying the earth, the amount of pollution we create daily is enough to damage our health. Pollution has serious effects on our health and even low levels of pollution is affecting our children’s lungs today. Are we going to do something to change the air quality, or will we just let future generations suffer from our moral turpitude? There are many health problems associated with air pollution, the government decided to do something about it in 1990 by creating the Clean Air Act and Air Pollution act. The reason it takes a long time to finish up the research is due to the fact that researchers must follow the children throughout their lives to recheck their lung function. If the participants moved way from the place they had initially been when the study began, the researchers would have had to do extra research to calculate the amount of pollution they had been exposed to. The study will continue; the researchers will keep monitoring the amount of pollution in the air vs. the effects it has on our children’s …show more content…
Some ways of reducing air pollution are much easier than others. For example, it is very difficult for everyone to purchase a new car that is a zero-emission electric car. People are going to want to buy another car considering they already have one, and would have to spend money they may not have. There are easier ways in which one can make a difference in the amount of pollution being put out into the air. For example, there is public transportation that one can take in larger cities which would reduce the number of vehicles in the streets by a large number, potentially increasing air quality. There are many other ways to reduce pollution: gradually accelerate, turn off the lights when one is not in the room, set the thermostat to 78 degrees in the winter and 68 in the summer, recycle paper, plastic, metals and organic material, plant a tree, and/or if you can walk to your destination walk (after all it will benefit your health and physical appearance). Those are efficient and easy ways to reduce pollution everyday by changing small bad habits. Making small changes will not only benefit you, it will benefit everyone and
