In order for that to happen, the community and the police must work as a team. It is extremely important for both the police and the community to understand the importance they both have in the development of a stronger relationship between the two. It is up to the police department to make sure they constantly are reinventing themselves and giving community members chances to express their concerns and fears to them. And it is up to the community members to take advantage of the opportunities they are given.
There are a lot of misinterpretations when it comes to understanding what community oriented policing is and what it takes to adopt a community-oriented program.
