It was found in the Old Kingdom around c.3100 BCE. The Pallet is made out local dark grey wacky, which is a kind of stone. The pallet was significant because Narmer was the first person who created a unified version of Egypt. It is an ancient artifact in this museum because it signifies how Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt became Egypt as a whole. The portrait head of Nefertiti is another artifact that is important in Ancient Egypt. It was found in the Amarna period (1352-1336). It is made out of plaster. Nefertiti’s portrait signifies family values in the Amarna period. She was very loved by many people especially Akhenaten. It is an important artifact in the museum because the Amarna period was a time when family values were portrayed and helped create a view of what women should look like in the years to come.
The Hippopotamus is an important artifact from the Middle Kingdom (2181-1650). The hippopotamus is made out of faience. When a Hippo is drawn or painted into a picture it usually means that the land is in chaos. The pharaoh at the time is supposed to return the world back to order. Artifacts that were from the same time frame are going to be on the walls right next to each other. That way when walking through the museum it will be like taking a walk through history. I will make sure it is interesting to the visitors who will come to my museum by making sure to be creative with the way things will be explained. On the floor I will have little footprints that make the visitors want to “walk like an Egyptian”. As the visitors go through the museum there will be little areas that will have artificial products that they can dig up and find themselves. There will be little ramps that make the visitors walk up a little each time they pass a different part in history. Meaning the building itself will be a pyramid. There will be three long ramps for the Old, Middle, New kingdom, and shorter ramps for the time frames in between. For the artifacts I will tell stories about how they are all significant. The Pallet of Narmer, because Narmer was the first person to unify Egypt. Or a statue of a hippopotamus from the middle kingdom, that meant chaos. It was the Pharaohs duty to return the land back from chaos. I used The Great Pyramid as one of my main architecture. It is an amazing piece of artwork that still is a mystery worth deciphering.
