Everybody encounters classical conditioning sooner or later all through their lifetime. My earliest memory of this was when I was five years old, I had just recently started taking showers. I was in the middle of a shower, when my Mother flushed the toilet in her bathroom. The water coming out of the shower head turned from lukewarm to scalding hot. This caused me to jump back and shout. At first I thought nothing of it, but around the third time I would automatically jump back at the sound of the toilet flushing before the water even got hot. The toilet flushing would start out as the neutral stimulus. The hot water was the unconditioned stimulus and the jumping back was the unconditioned response. The toilet later became the conditioned stimulus
