Corey (2013) shares the following techniques and strategies used in feminist therapy. Gender role analysis and gender role intervention is used to help clients understand how society gender role expectations may be impacting a client’s own personal views. These techniques are used to help clients gain insight into ways those society gender role expectations can be affecting their problem and gives the client the option to decide what feels right to them and how they can contribute to social change. Power analysis is based on helping clients acknowledge the power differences between men, women or power issues associated with sexual orientation in our society. This intervention is aimed at helping clients understand that they do possess power within them and how they can use that power to make a change. Bibliotherapy is a technique used to allow clients to read and learn from different reading material that can supplement what is being learned in therapy. This technique can help clients by allowing them to explore their reactions to what they are reading and give them a better perspective on the issues that are relevant to the client. Assertiveness training is a technique that allows clients to learn and practice how to seek and maintain an appropriate balance between passivity and aggression. This technique allows clients to implement change on a daily basis and helps them to rise above stereotypical roles. Reframing and Relabeling are used in two parts reframing is focused on looking at the clients issue from a societal or political light verses just blaming themselves. Relabeling helps a client to change their negative labels to a more positive one.
