((The story of Persephone is quite commonly known of Greek mythology. Yet, it can be argued that as more and more editions of the story were told, the original was quite different. Whilst the tale told is of a young girl kidnapped by Hades and tricked into staying with him, another lesser known version tells the story of a young woman who sought adventure and chose to visit and then stay with the Lord of the Underworld. This version, deserves to be told. With a new setting to reflect such a brave, courageous girl, the idea of an Australian retelling of Persephone came to mind))
Persephone was the embodiment of the Lucky Country. Just like her golden homeland, she too was full of contrasting beauty and chaos.
Beauty. Saturated and vibrant. Painted with colours so intense it seemed impossible. How could the sea be so blue? And yet, it was, calm blue waves lapping onto immaculate beaches that instil tranquility and serenity in all who behold the sight. How could plain dirt be tinged so red? It was rich with iron and was abundant in the very heart of such a country. How could it be that the sky knew how to dance with so many shades of oranges and pinks and purples as the sun rose over the vast lands of Australia?
