Transitional Change In Small Business

A small business that is planning to expand its internal and external operations, to meet current customers’ demands. This would require hiring additional staff and purchasing new machinery. I am the project manager of a team tasked with carrying out this organizational transformation.
The first thing that I would do to start the process of carrying out the organizational transformation is, to share the news with the organizational/employees. People are afraid of change, by telling them what we plan on doing step by step it can lessen that fear and any animosity towards the change. Next, I would introduce the team and team leader. Even though I have not yet hired the new staff, it is still important to allow the employees to know who we are.

“Transitional change begins when leaders recognize that a problem exists or that an opportunity is not being pursued—and that something in the existing operation needs to change or be created to better serve current and/or future demands.” (Anderson, 2010-09-27, p. 56) The transitional change has three phases. The first phase is the present state. This is the state that the small business was currently at. They realize they needed to expand their business, which the old process was no longer working. The second stage is the transition. This is part of the process where my project team and I start to make changes, to reach our goal. For the example we are our hiring new staff and purchasing new machinery and facilities. Even might include a workshop on how to operate the new machines. The third stage is the future state. I will discuss the problem or topic that needs a decision with my team. I will be able to hear all my team members’ points of views and concerns. Second, I would research the problem, this would include a history research too of similar cases. The root cause of the problem, I would also most likely drawn diagrams such as the fish bone to help me. I will find the solution to the problem and develop a strategy to implement the change, so the problem can be resolved. I will have my team aware of the solution and the steps we are taking to resolve the problem as well as the steps to prevent it from happening
