Relation to the Digestive System:
Oceans are not naturally acidic, but are slightly basic due to them having a pH of 8.06. Through excessive human pollution, such as driving cars, flying, expelling gases through factories and more, we are polluting our environment with carbon dioxide and other harmful gases. The oceans react to the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and forms carbonic acid, which releases hydrogen ions, therefore reducing the pH. This change affects the organisms - such as crabs - who have shells and other exoskeletal body parts made of calcium carbonate and diffuses them, it also affects the internal organs. …show more content…
When calcium carbonate passes through the digestive system it creates more feces, but without such traits in the food we eat, our digestive tracts will not be able to digest what we eat, therefore causing many digestion problems.
