Furthermore, my beliefs allow me to surmise that possibly Dr. King’s place on this earth was to walk as a symbolic testament to the unification necessary to trek through this journey of life. From reflection about Dr. King and that era, I have learned some valuable life lessons/skills that I fell necessary for my generation. In the words of Maya Angelou, “…It is a historical truth. No man can know where he is going unless he knows exactly where he has been and exactly how he arrived at his present place.” God places within each of us the ability to manifest purpose while here. Part of Dr. King’s purpose was to by whatever means necessary show the nation racism and inequality are never okay. As Dr. King attested, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Thus, my “life-lessons” include the realization that there must come a time that I, too, must be willing to sacrifice to take a stand for those who have no voice. King, let's me know how determined and destined I am in making a difference. Everyone has a voice in this world and deserves to be heard. This has influenced my goals of reaching the mountaintop with Dr. King, so I too can lay out the perfect future not only my race, but others as well. The world was not made to be segregated. Dr. King marched for African-Americans, but he had a message along with it. Equality is why I walk during the month of January for Dr. King. He showed each of us the importance of equality. Act 17:26 states “and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,” This scripture is saying that God made each of us from the same limb. Just because our skin tones are different does not mean we are supposed to treat each other differently. Dr. King understood that message from God and he wanted to make sure he fulfilled His word through the nation. Remembering Dr. King for all that he has done helps me continue my goals, and walking for him let's me know how supportive I am for anyone. Because All Lives
