In his speech “Impasse on Race Relations,” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. preached nonviolence and peaceful protest to a group of Canadian college students. His arguments, although clear and logical, are now outdated. Black Americans and white people no longer “collaborate for human dignity.”

Dr. Martin Luther King was a very wise man. I, along with anyone, could tell that he was intelligent as I read this speech. He presented his arguments in a very clear and logical way. For example, in the passage he presented his audience with two logical questions about rioting cause and effect. After making the audience think, Dr. King answered the questions with just as logical reasoning. His clear and logical arguments, paired with confidence and determination, brought about hope within the

Martin Luther King Jr’s “Impasse on Race Relations” speech was very powerful and well spoken. Through his clear arguments and dedication to change, Dr. King made it hard for anyone not to see his point of view. He had clear goals and ambitions, and he strived for these things peacefully. That is what I perceived when I was reading his speech. I also kept thinking to myself that I would have loved to live in a time where change was made without violence and where love for one another still existed.
When the speech came to an end, I came to the conclusion that I do in fact agree with Dr. King’s motivations, but I do not see the relevance for today’s circumstances. It is like there is not peace anymore, and I believe that is what Martin Luther King Jr. really wanted. He did not wish for a world full of hate.Based on this speech I think Dr. King would be ashamed of his people and all the riots they are conducting. He had a dream that one day white and black people would stand together in harmony. However, that is another speech for another day.
