He has demonstrated this through his speeches, especially the “I Have a Dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial aroused the hearts of many. He has made many non-violent protests over the span of his life. Most people give Mr. King Jr. the credit for starting the civil right movements but, Rosa Parks Put the spirit into the entire movement.
“WHILE confined here in the Birmingham city jail, I came across your recent statement calling our present activities...”(MLK 1) was how the great doctor king started off his letter “Letter from Birmingham Jail” written on August 1963. He wrote it to eight white clergymen who were disapproving of his non-violent protests. Contained in the letter was the reason he was doing what he did and why they should care (Modern Black Literature).
MLK was a great man and made the Civil Rights Movement what is is today and I hope to build off his progress and give African Americans the privileges and opportunities that most people have. My hopes of achieving this goal at a point in my life are enormous. To ascertain such unattainable goals takes confidence, determination, and support.
