In the process of evaluating the hypothesis, drug abuse, family and marital conflicts, alcohol abuse, anxiety disorder, depression, and suicide are likely to be identified as expected consequences of stress and burnout syndrome. Studies also reveal that the consequences of nurse burnout can be devastating; in addition to causing psychological and physical problems for the nursing professional, burnout can also result in poorer patient evaluations of the quality of care, lost time and reduced productivity, and a premature exit from the profession. In addition, the research findings will clearly illustrate the link between stress and burnout and increased clinical errors, nurses’ turnover, and patient dissatisfaction incidences (Yu, 2011).
