Does Year-Round School Affect Academic Performance?

Does year-round school affect kids' academic performance? No, in fact several schools in the Texas district tried year-round schooling. But many didn't continue year-round school because they did not see any improvement academically. We should not have year-round schooling because there is no guarantee of higher test scores. There are two different types of year-round schooling. Single track and multitrack. On a single track, everyone enrolled at that school is on the same schedule. But, multi track means there are more than one schedule. If you have multiple kids going to a school that uses a multi track, your kids might have two different schedules that you have to keep track of. On the other hand, most schools do not see any improvement. But teachers might experience burnout. The teachers get so tired of teaching, they don't have a break for development and growth or a break to just relax. (Zubrzycki) The teachers aren't able to improve their teaching skills. A professor at the University of California, Berkeley compiled several interview about burnout and jobs. The professor, along with her colleagues, found that employees frequently experienced intense emotional exhaustion, negative attitudes towards co-workers and felt like they could no longer do their job at the level required. Burnout has many symptoms like depression. Burnout was "killing" their ambitions, idealism and sense of worth. (Michel ¶
