Kennedy’s Address to the Greater Houston Ministerial Association, he bespeaks that religion should not be controlling the government, but the people of the church that attend services should have a say as to what goes on in the government. “It is apparently necessary for me to state once again – not what kind of church I believe in, for that should only be important to me – but what kind of America I believe in.”(Kennedy, pg. 487) This statement indicates that as a United States citizen, I should not allow my church to tell the government what to do, but instead I should have my own say of what the government should do in order to have the America I believe in. The church that I believe in should be of my own importance and not the government’s nor the country’s importance of the sec of religion or what religion I believe in as a United States citizen.
