For this project I decided it would be best to teach my mother, and younger brother, the harmful effects of cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vaporizers, and hookah. Since I was teaching alone I had preferred one learner, but felt it was helpful for them if I taught both. My mother is 52 and had smoked cigarettes from the age of 16 up to the age of 45. From then on she started purchasing and using the e-cigarettes, which she thought would help her from smoking. What my mother doesn’t realize is that these products are still harmful, and will not help rid of her bad “habit”. My brother is only 17, but already smokes cigarettes occasionally, uses the vaporizers every day, and smokes hookah socially. I decided he needed to learn the dangers of these products because he is young enough to stop this habit before it gets out of hand. I chose my mothers home for the learning experience because her and my brother live under the same roof. I chose Sunday November 14, 2015 at 1700 because neither had work nor school, and I felt they would both be home at this time. I allowed them to sit in the living room because they could sit comfortably on the couch, while I stood up in front of them to teach. My teaching focused on cessation because both individuals had already started smoking or using these risky products.
