Drugs can relate to all six components of health. Abusing drugs can physically take a toll on your body. Making skin age quicker, teeth rot and become yellow, and can most of all drain your energy. Drugs can produce mood swings and make you antisocial and depressed, which will affect your mental, spiritual, and social health aspects. Environmentally, you will be less motivated to go outside and be apart of the world. This being said, after experiencing a ‘high’ sensation, you will end up going back into a slum, which will eventually make you want more drugs to recreate that ‘high’.
Aurora and I chose to do our Public Service Announcement on drugs because there are people that we know who do them. We want to show them that doing drugs has more negatives than the ‘high’ they receive from the drugs. I personally have family members who smoke and chew tobacco and seeing how they are constantly doing it really disturbs me. My friends and family know that what they are doing is wrong, and I remind them of that whenever they are lighting a cig or ‘putting in a dip’. Since they are making taxpayers pay for their drugs, paraphernalia, and medical bills, what will be to come in our near future? Because teens are constantly exposed to social media, they see celebrities doing drugs as well. Celebrities are portrayed in movies, shows, and other things as people having fun at parties, clubs, etc. This could help influence the poor decision of abusing drugs. Drug abuse is a serious problem, and shouldn't be looked at as a confidence booster or a popularity fad. As of 2013, over 47,000 Americans die annually from drug abuse.
