My parents got married when they were twenty. They were high school sweethearts. Their marriage ended less than ten short years later. When I asked my mother about the marriage, she said that the relationship got too comfortable, she started spending more time on the kids and less time on him,which would lead to his unfaithfulness (Reed). Getting married young means that you are bound to another person legally, that is a giant step to take when one have not made other major decisions in one’s life already. High school sweethearts are seen as a symbol of romance, and most romance books are about couples falling in love in high school and living happily ever after.
