In “Time and Again,” the main character, who is never named, is a man who went through World War II in France. After returning from the war, he came home to his small farm with only a few hogs and his family to keep him company. Since returning home, he begins to suffer from PTSD (Pancake, 2006). This causes him to have flashbacks of his time in France, and all of the men that he had to kill. As he is going down the road, he is reminded of France by the snow on the ground. This memory takes him back to war times, “It was snowing like this when they dropped us over France” (Pancake, 2006 pg. 87). …show more content…
In “Time and Again,” the man is suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. This causes him to have the flashbacks from the war that he was in (Pancake, 2006). This also affects his ability to tell the difference between reality. He begins to confuse what is really happening with what he thinks is happening. In the episode “To Hell and Back,” Lucas suffers from a mental disability that he was born with, as well as autism. His mental illness causes him to not know the difference between right and wrong. He is also very attached to the farm that he grew up on, and he can’t function without living on that farm (Lucas Turner, 2005, n.p.). Overall, mental illness is what causes each of these characters to act and to kill
