Motivation is the one key force attributed to proceeding and moving on. Motivation is the act of providing motive that causes someone to act (Shanks, 24). The term motivation is derived from the Latin word movere, meaning “to move.” Motivation can be broadly defined as the forces acting on or within a person that cause the arousal, direction, and persistence of goal-directed, voluntary effort. Why is motivation needed in the workplace? Most people work because they need the money. However, in order to get efficiency and effectiveness employees must feel passion and excitement which is accompanied with empowerment and fulfillment. Motivating employees start with realizing and understanding that in order to squeeze out every source of potential, individuals require an atmosphere that accommodates their emotional need to acquire. There are not two employees that are alike. With that being said, difficulty awaits in trying to comprehend what specifically makes that individual react in order to utilize the proper motivational tactics.

Smart business owners know that there is a direct link between motivating employees to be successful in their assignments and the success of that business.
