One theme used in this novel was wealth. The characters were very judgmental and did not care about what others thought. A motif that was used was that the characters were very hypocritical. Tom hated how bootleggers weren’t being found out yet tom drank all the time. Daisy also said that she could never have loved tom yet she did. Tom also was against women going and cheating yet tom was cheating on daisy.
