Every year millions of people are pursued, arrested, and locked up for crimes anywhere from speeding to mass murder. Many get away with a ticket, a small fee, and a short stay in jail. Others receive sentences that range anywhere from one year’s time to life without parole. A chosen few are granted the short drop and a sudden stop. Most of these judgments are made on the basis of which crime is committed. But a man’s criminal sentence should not only be determined by the crime itself. It is crucial to consider a man’s age, his circumstances, and his prior standing with the law before we make decisions that could determine the rest of his life, and among all of these, forgiveness must be incorporated into the resolution as much as feasibly possible. When determining the extent of a man’s crimes, the first thing we must do is to take a look as his age. A comprehension must be made that not everyone has an extensive sense of discipline, and some people are more prone to doing things impulsively. He has had a chance to learn his lesson and been offered leniency, but he has refused to heed any correction and has taken advantage of any mercy.
