“Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) is a training program that was developed for the prevention of relapse in patients with recurrent depression” (p. 612), the practice of MBCT’s roots are found in the Buddhist practice of mediation, calming one’s self, being present in the moment, and opening one’s self up to new experiences. This meditation combined with cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on the acceptance of one’s condition and acceptance of all feelings associated with it, not just the negative ones that are common for an individual suffering from major depressive disorder (MDD) (p. 612-613). This type of treatment is successful to many; however, there is not much empirical data to prove why or how it is successful. Therefore,
