The problem with the many societies that have attempted to base their government on Marx’s Communist Manifesto is clear. There is a corrupt backing and there is one key component to Marx’s argument missing. The proletariat classes in any of the given countries has not been strong enough to warrant a majority overthrowing the minority, as they have all been the minority themselves. While many can say that the working person is the one who makes a majority of any country, it would be rather ill informed. The majority of people now are workers, yet they are not “a class of labourers, who live only so long as they find work, and who find work only so long as their labour increases capital” (Marx, 18). They are workers for companies, or businesses but not manual laborers who create capital with their work. To base the idea of communism off a worker that does not fit the persecuted group Marx talked about takes all credibility away from the created idea. Workers must be the actual creators in the society and a majority in order for the idea of communism or socialism to work as Marx intended. Without that majority, production would not be equal through all people, and thus rendering Marx’s idea of every individual contributing what their share is obsolete. Communism as the Manifesto has put it is not a modern idea, and does not function well in modern society. Yet, in Marx’s time of …show more content…
Many persecute the believers in the communist doctrine for following, yet it is a result of their misunderstanding. The common thought of the current state of communism in the world is not one that Marx spoke of, and not one that should be seen as beneficial to human life. Moreover, the modern view of Marx’s ideas are more of a socialistic idea that function on the majority not needing to be manual laborers. Bernie Sanders’ idea of democratic socialism is the most realistic contemporary idea that does as Marx wanted; it takes ideas but adapts to benefit the majority instead of the minority. In all, Marx’s philosophy of the Communist Manifesto is not a guideline to run a country. As observed, if the philosophy is adapted to modern societies then all it can do is fail as a communism, and create massive amounts of corruption and suffering. Marx’s ideology needs to be adapted, and it should be seen as an idea of the past that has ideas that are very beneficial to current economies, but not to be taken
