The three most important characters in my eyes are Martin Luther King Jr, Sheyann Web, and Charles Mauldin. These three amazing characters all show the importance of freedom and justice for both blacks and whites. Martin Luther King Jr, a legend, an extortionary person who’s story still lives on, showed and gave speeches that inspired millions of blacks fight for their justice. He would get beaten or arrested but still got up and fought. Dr. King was known for no violence which is such a wonderful, amazing thing to inspire people by. He would show his amazing enthusiasm for freedom by going to meetings, or by listening to Freedom Fighters. Charles was a fighter and an inspiration to many. The message I felt from the author, a moral that isn’t written but felt, or in other words “the book's theme”. What I personally felt throughout the whole story, a series of words that kept on “clicking” or repeating to me as I read this book was, “fight for what’s right.” Throughout the whole entire book, blacks were fighting for their rights. They would get pushed down, making them lose their hope. However, they were a team. They consisted of strangers, friends, and family. But, they were a team. Exactly what I mean is, all of the blacks would encourage one another to get back up and fight and at the same time encouraging themselves. In the end, the fighting is why today’s people, blacks and whites, are now holding hands instead of harming one another. One example of blacks encouraging each other is when Mrs. Moore told Sheyann Web to not be afraid when the sheriff began shouting at the marchers. “Baby, don’t be afraid,” said Mrs. Moore. “You’re young, but just don’t be afraid.” This textual evidence piece shows how encouragement
