Manly was one of Sydney’s earliest northern beaches suburb. 20 years ago it was well know Anglo Saxon territory. About 60-70% of its population was from this Anglo-Saxon community 20 years ago. This population was a mere 16,000 people two decades ago and was one of Sydney’s smaller suburbs. 20 years ago the population of manly was mainly Anglo-Saxon. That’s now changed as it has moved into a large a Scandinavian and German community. This population has also grown from the 16,000 people to 39,700 people living in what is now one of Sydney's most popular council areas. The Main Street of Manly has also changed as it has now got many well known shopping chains and public playgrounds. There are also many new council improvements to the area. The transport within the area has changed quite a lot as now it is well visited and not an “outsider community”. The ferry wharf has now grown and public buses are operated by the Government that go in and out of the city and all around NSW. This also allows the children of Manly access education easier. The education has greatly improved as well as now some of Sydney's top selective schools are now run in Manly borders. This is how the community of Manly has changed into its present
