First, in the novel, “The Black Cat”, Edgar Allan Poe explains how the narrator as a child was mild and kind. Surrounded by animals that he loved taking care of. Both are living with their partners that has an influence on them when it comes to developing habits. I think when the partners realize that the narrators are finding peace in their habits they don’t take action. It goes too far until it is to late and the partners finally decides to stand up for the wrong doing but ends up getting murdered. A dramatic action such murder does not affect the narrators as much as they thought it will. In the first story, “The Black Cat”, the narrator kills his wife without realizing it but does not feel bad after it. While in the second story, “Stan”, decides to put his wife in the trunk and drive off a bridge, was actually recording a message confessing his actions without any regrets before murdering. The difference between both of the characters madness is their awareness. As Stan tries to live another life than the reality but does not realize that he is living through made up lyrics meanwhile the unnamed narrator in the story, “The black cat”, where his desire takes total control yet still aware of his wrong
