The first scene portrays this by having Max eat a two-headed lizard without any hesitation. Humans would not result to eating insects unless it was their last choice but he does so without even thinking twice about it. Treating humans merely as blood bags is very degrading and is a result of the lack of medical recourses left on the earth which make mother’s milk a commodity.
