Jesus said this parable when many people were coming to him to hear the Word of God. Which he directs his audience to this parable about the hearing of the Word. Therefore, Jesus, by stating this parable, wanted to make all those that were coming to him to hear the Word, aware of the available choices for hearing and also abiding in the Word of God. The purpose then translates to Jesus trying to portray to the audience for them to hear the ‘Word of God’ and become receptive to the teachings of Christ (Him). However, this seed (Word) does not give the same results on all grounds, for the fruitfulness highly depends on the ground of where it falls. Luke 8:15 captures the saying "But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, in an honest heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience." See, the first soil of people (vs.11) could not understand nor receive the Word for their hearts were hard. In contrast, the people in (vs.15) of this only fruitful category take heeds to the Word embedding it within their good and honest heart. Even though the last type of soil was good and honest, the second category were people who had no endurance but fell immediately within the first sig of a problem, situation, or affliction. In the last soil (vs.15) the people are patient and do not fall into the hands of the enemy. Finally, even though the third soil heard the Word of God they were still choked by the desires of themselves to lead them out of the roof of the Word of God. But, in the last category of soil it is kept within the hearts of such people, therefore they are not losing their position with where the Word of God is kept for the sake of any other thing, person, and self-desire. In all, of this parables and even more to come, Jesus is critiquing his audience and those who hear his ‘Word’ on how they will hear and apply his Words, was the major issue being targeted in this parable. Also, in Luke 8:9-10 Jesus was trying to convey to his disciples that the secrets of the kingdom of God is not a secret nor a mystery if God himself reveals it to you, in which in this case Jesus kind of discreetly tells him again that he is (Divine) God. For only God can reveal his secrets to those who hear it and also for those who apply it.
