Introduction A transformational leader possesses a positive ethos (authority and credibility), inspires, trusts and respects, connects with others individually and in groups, articulates a clear and motivating vision and skillfully motivates and guides others to act (Barrett, 2006, p.4). This paper is a communication profile of Priscilla Shirer whom I consider to be a transformational leader due to her various skills that have been identified in this paper. I haven’t met her in person…
Booth presents the balance through three-main elements: arguments available about the subject, the interest of readers and the speaker’s voice and character. By contrast, there are a few unbalanced stances that writers tend to take, especially with persuasion. The pedant’s stance, which relies exclusively on the subject, totally ignore the “personal relationship” between the speaker and the audience. However, this kind of writing makes the document become meaningless and empty. The opposite stance concentrated strictly on the purpose of appealing the audience, but it still does not truly reach any reader because of lacking of rhetoric.…

In the novel, Melinda did not know that she can be brave and confident enough to talk and shout for help. She does not know that she is capable of fighting back, yet in the end, she realized she fought back and shouted for help. It shows us that she just have to be strong and start to speak up because if she wasn’t strong and loud nobody could have heard her and she was raped again by Andy Evans. We should believe in ourselves and be strong because if we won’t we might just be in trouble or people won’t know what our backstory…
From the day a person is born, that is when he or she starts to develop their own voice. A person’s voice is a powerful attribute, one can tell what kind of person he or she is talking to based on his or her voice. One’s voice that he or she obtains helps defeine who he or she is. The voice a person has in the beginning of their life, is influenced by how he or she was raised. In Zadie Smith’s essay “Speaking in Tongues” she disscusses how when people grow older they are exposed to people that have multiple voices and use those multiple voices to help to connect to other people.…
It is often said that communication is key to cooperation and in order to be able to communicate properly one must use their language accordingly to voice their thoughts and ideas to others. In the short, science fiction story "Speech Sounds" by Octavia Butler, speech is absent in a society causing disorder amongst the citizens. The short story makes many connections with society and people today in terms of lack of responsiveness and feelings of indifference to others. But while the story directs a loss of speech to a loss of empathy this isn’t necessarily correct. “Speech Sounds” is set in a dystopia and starts off with Rye taking a bus to Pasadena.…

Rhetorical Analysis: “The Danger of Silence” Silence is a phenomenon that is not always easy to comprehend. In some cases, it is part of human nature to remain silent even when it is necessary to find the courage to speak. This idea is what Clint Smith discusses in his TEDTalk entitled, “The Danger of Silence”, where he explains how important it is to speak out against the injustices that have taken reign over the world today. Smith uses a variety of rhetorical strategies to convey his idea by developing significant verbal and visual elements in the video. He utilizes carefully chosen descriptions to reinforce specific appeals throughout the text to convince the listener to spend every day as if there were a microphone hidden underneath his…
When asked what is the most powerful thing in existence, the common answer often revolves around physical strength and ability. Little do numerous people understand, the most appropriate answer is simply, words. Words are what make people who they are, and are what cause the most destruction and beauty in the universe. Hitler’s greatest weapon was not his army, but his persuasive words, for his followers would be non existent if he could not convince them to join him. Yet without human voice, our whole surroundings would become much duller and blank.…
The Sound of Silence “ Silence is the most powerful scream” it is something that can speak a thousand words without effort, and it is also something that can benefit or harm a relationship. Which is why silence is such and important theme for the book, The Chosen. Silence allowed the characters to speak when words couldn’t, it conveyed emotions the characters did not want to express, and silence allowed the characters to learn where words would not be teachable. Silence allowed Danny to show Rueven that he genuinely cared, by going to the hospital to visit Rueven.…
What does it mean to have a voice? What does one do with their voice? How can one make a difference with their voice? All of these questions are pondered, in Terry Tempest Williams’ When Women Were Birds, and Laurie Penny’s Unspeakable Things. While these books, and authors for that matter, appear to be completely different, their underlying messages speak to the same thing.…
A voice is an attribute that many people take for granted. A person’s voice can be large and loud or could be soft and small; but we all have a voice inside. All voices are important and fragile to an extent, but the most fragile is a child’s voice.…
