Crooks is never invited to do things with the other group of men because of his race. on page 68, Lennie asks Crooks why isn’t he wanted in the bunkhouse, Crooks replies by saying “Cause I’m black. They play cards in there, but I can’t play because I’m black.” This is another reason why Crooks is the loneliest character. Nobody likes him, just because of his race. Only Lennie had no problem talking to Crooks, but Lennie can talk to anybody and doesn’t care about skin color or the way that they look. There may be other characters in the story that are lonely, but at least they are accepted because of their race, No matter how nice and cool a person that crooks is, he may never be accepted, just because of his skin
